4) Music and peace, music and Europe

5) Music and traditional songs representing the towns involved in the project

6) Creating a choir or other musical ensembles for interpreting music that is the content of this project; creating recordings of performances on CDs, DVDs, etc.

7) Instruction of play on various musical instruments

8) Exchange programs, personal meetings of pupils and teachers, exchange of knowledge and resources among pupils and teachers of participating schools

9) Getting to know Mozart’s birthplace – the city of Salzburg; a common trip to Salzburg of schools involved in the project

10) Traditional versus modern (for instance jazz, big-band, rock...) interpretations of Mozart

We're delighted to report that our application to join the Socrates project on Mozart, titled Mozart and Music in Europe, was approved by Slovakia's National Socrates Agency

As of 31 July 2006, the project has only been approved in 3 out of 11 countries that applied to join it; we're certainly happy to be among them. The other 2 approved countries thus far are Italy (coordinating school) and Bulgaria. We wish all the best to the remaining applicant countries!

We just got word this morning (1 August) that the project is also approved in Germany. Sehr gut!

The morning isn't over yet and there's another piece of good news: the project is now also approved in Austria.

We've now received the great news that Turkey is also approved and the Turkish school will join the Mozart project.

Unfortunately, the project has been rejected in France, the Czech Republic, and Romania. These schools can again apply to join the project starting from the school year 2007/8.

There's still no news on the project's status in Great Britain and Hungary. If these two countries can join us, there will be schools from 8 countries working on the Mozart project; if they cannot, 6 countries will cooperate.

The first joint international meeting of all participating schools is scheduled for 25-27 October 2006 in Mantova, Italy, where the project's coordinating school resides.

By proxy, we learned today that the Mozart project was finally also approved in England. Unfortunately, not in Hungary.

This means that from the original 11 countries that applied to join the Mozart project, 7 will be able to do so in the school year 2006/7:
